A Note on Joie from Marrakech…

This November, I’m inviting you to join me for an unforgettable escape to Marrakech—a city that stirs the senses and speaks to the soul. Bold colors, rich textures, intricate patterns—they’re everywhere: in the courtyards of riads, in mosaic tiles, and, of course, in the beautiful caftans you know I love so much. Design lovers have long looked to this city for inspiration. It's a place where cultures, craftsmanship, and creative traditions converge in the most vibrant, living expression of beauty.

The first time I visited Marrakech, I was 25 and working as a young fashion editor. With just 48 hours’ notice, I was sent to assist on a magazine shoot that would become a major spread. I’ll never forget that arrival—how the call to prayer echoed over the rooftops, how my eyes darted between colors as we ran through the souk gathering props, how my stomach rumbled at the sight of towering tagines and mountains of couscous. The air itself felt alive—heavy with scent, energy, and mystery. My senses were completely awakened, and that feeling of awe and wonder is something I’ve chased ever since.

Now I’m returning—with joy and intention—not just to revisit that memory, but to invite you into it. In collaboration with Duende Retreats, I’ll be co-hosting a weeklong experience centered around everything I hold dear: beauty, joie de vivre, soulful connection, thoughtful conversation, and design that tells a story.

We’ll stay in a peaceful, fully staffed riad tucked inside the medina, shop the souks with a local designer who’ll help us decode the symbols and meaning behind Moroccan craft, and visit iconic places like Jardin Majorelle—a lush, color-saturated garden that enchanted Yves Saint Laurent and continues to inspire creatives from Paris to the world. For decades, there’s been a beautiful design dialogue between Morocco and France—an ongoing exchange of ideas, textures, and philosophies around art, lifestyle, and the handmade.

Throughout the retreat, we’ll gather around beautifully set tables, engage in creative workshops and immersive experiences, sip tea in quiet courtyards, and close our week with a sunset dinner beneath the stars in the Agafay Desert.

This is more than a trip. It’s a celebration of slowing down, of reconnecting—with yourself, with beauty, and with a kindred circle of women.

As I wrote in Joie:
